NATIVA™ Launches NATIVA Regen Wool Program in the US., in Partnership With Shaniko Wool Company.

New York (August 20, 2022) — A member of the 150-year-old Chargeurs Group, and a global pioneer in fully traceable sustainable Merino wool, NATIVA™ has now positioned itself as a key partner helping brands reduce their carbon footprint and reach their sustainability targets.

The NATIVA™ Regenerative Agriculture Program improves the quality of the soil - resulting in better nutrients, cleaner water and an overall healthier habitat that restores natural biodiversity at farm level.

For Jeanne Carver, ‘Made in the USA’ has never resonated louder. The founder of Shaniko Wool Company, Jeanne and her late husband, Dan Carver, have monitored land conservation and forage levels at their own historic Oregon ranch for several decades. In 1989 they launched a comprehensive conservation management plan, designed by Dan and agency partners, and in 2017 their ranch became the first in the world certified to Textile Exchange’s stringent, third-party audited, Responsible Wool Standard (RWS). Since its founding, Shaniko Wool Company, under Jeanne’s leadership, has brought 9 ranches into its RWS-certified fold, with other ranches waiting in the wings to join. .

To Jeanne, the role of the ranchers in her farm group is to nurture an ecosystem where all species can thrive. “When we began, we only had a handful of salmon returning to spawn in our stream,” she said. “Today, that number is in the thousands.”

Today NATIVA™ goes beyond farming. The groundbreaking Regenerative Program includes the first combined NATIVA-RWS sustainability certification, backed by Blockchain, issued in the United States, proving the label’s commitment to transparency.

Brands committed to using USA NATIVA™ Regenerative wool (which is being sold under the name Nativa Regen – Shaniko) for their garments will take part in NATIVA’s Regen implementation, supporting farmers and claiming a double NATIVA™ + RWS certification that guarantees sustainable practices from farm to finished garment. With a certified combing mill, (Chargeurs Wool USA is the only wool top combing mill in the United States), NATIVA™ further embodies the low-carbon benefits associated with local production in the USA.

With their global Regenerative Program, NATIVA collaborates closely with farmers worldwide, including those in Australia, Uruguay, Argentina, and USA, as well as leading research institutes, universities, and sustainability pioneers, such as Quantis.

NATIVA™ Regenerative Agriculture Program is a robust system with a triple impact, one based on scientific research and backed by data. It protects the land by bettering its soil quality, safeguards the animals by ensuring their healthy keeping, and supports farmers and local communities by improving their livelihoods. These multidisciplinary efforts also result in greater water quality and increased CO2 capturing levels.

NATIVA™ recreates what nature does so well - balanced ecosystems where all beings, big and small, cohabitate. This restores back hope in a system in which animals, plants and people can work together to thrive, and invites brands to be part of a change that feels as urgent as relevant.
